Malta to Izmir
We’re not sure what travel plans you have in mind, but there are no direct flights from Malta to Izmir.
The easiest option would be flying from Malta to Istanbul with either Turkish Airlines or KM Malta Airlines (KM Malta Airlines has recently announced new flights to Istanbul) then starting your journey in Turkey from there. There are several different ways of getting to Izmir, it all depends on how you choose to plan your trip.
Flights to Turkey can be quite expensive, but prices are currently reasonable. If you're sure you'll be joining us, we recommend booking your travel arrangements soon to get the best rates!
For other domestic flights within Turkey, we usually fly with Turkish Airlines, SunExpress, or Pegasus Airlines, all of which have been reliable in our experience.
Option 1: Travelling directly to Izmir (via Istanbul)
Book flights with Turkish Airlines from Malta to Izmir including return (this would include the connecting flight in Istanbul, you do not need to book any additional flights for the connecting flight)
1.Malta → Izmir (includes connecting flight in Istanbul).
2.Return with Izmir → Malta (includes connecting flight in Istanbul).
Option 2: Renting a car in Istanbul
Travel from Malta to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines or KM Malta airlines. If you’re planning to rent a car, you could drive from Istanbul to Izmir it’s about a 4-5 hour journey.
Option 3: Multi- City option
For who might not know Turkish Airlines offers a Multi-City (Multi-Stop) booking option, allowing you to plan flights with different arrival and departure cities.
For example, if you're flying from Malta to Izmir via Istanbul, but you also want to spend a few days in Istanbul, you can:
-
Book Malta → Istanbul (stay for a few days).
-
Then book Istanbul → Izmir on a later date.
-
Finally, return with Izmir → Malta (via Istanbul).
Renting a car
• Avis Rent A Car
• Hertz Rent A Car
• Garenta Rent A Car
• Sixt Rent A Car
• Budget Rent A Car
• Europcar Rent A Car
We recommend renting a car, as it will make getting around much easier. While public transport is efficient, it can be challenging to navigate and communicate if you're not a local.
